The Community Support Mission in Tanzania, is reaching out for volunteer plumbers to lend their skills and knowledge to help with a Gravity Water Supply community water project. The water source for this project is a stream flowing 1,058,889 liters a day (279,728 gallons). This project overseen by the District Water Administrative Official, and coordinated with CSM and volunteers, will supply water to a primary school, a secondary school, Health Center Dispensary, and to neighboring villages totaling 4,418 people who will be served.
The new water system piping and filtering system will greatly reduce chronic water borne diseases, and provide a reliable and inexpensive fee based water service. This system will be installed and maintained by the community, empowering the villagers to grow sustainable marketable crops and create other economic opportunities, eliminating the danger in unsecure areas to young children and women tasked with fetching water.
The Iringa region project is located within the southern Tanzania highlands, bordering with national parks of Ruaha, Miumi, Seluu, Udizung’wa, and Kutulo God’s Garden. Project is planned for 2018 with a proposed timeline of 2 weeks to completion.
CSM will cover cost of lodging and local travel in-country.
Air travel, volunteer insurance, medical and evacuation insurance, vaccinations and any other costs are the responsibility of volunteers.
