Sato toilet units reaching Haiti are making pit latrines safer and more hygienic

Thanks to the leadership and generosity of Boston-based Cannistraro company in collaboration with Plumbers Without Borders, Lixil, and Mackenson Picot’s masonry teams in Haiti, installations of Sato toilet units are being retro-fitted into hundreds of pit latrines in the Canaan region of Haiti, which is home to hundreds of thousands of Haitians living without access to piped potable water or hygienic sanitation. The first of these projects serving 200 homes and approximately 1000 people was completed in 2021. The next project of 200 units is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2021.
